Aaaaaarm Porn!

Former Fratmen and GayHoopla porn star Cole Money has launched a GoFundMe to help pay for rehab and other medical expenses as he recovers from the horrific bacterial infection that nearly cost him his arm:

"I don't grab them, as they say, on the arm," he continued. "One said, 'He grabbed me on the arm.' And she's a porn star. You know, this one that came out recently, 'He grabbed me and he grabbed me on the arm.' Oh, I'm sure she's never been grabbed before."

Consuming child porn "is not something that is just done by unemployed drifters who live in their parent's basement," said James Hayes, of ICE's New York office. "If this operation does anything, it puts the lie to the belief that the people who do this are not productive members of society."

Authorities say advances in technology and computer capacity have allowed child-porn collectors to more easily amass vast troves of images and to exchange files with each other directly. The New York effort resulted in the seizure of nearly 600 desktop and laptop computers, tablets, smartphones and other devices containing a total of 175 terabytes of storage.

Authorities decided to launch the operation after the arrest in January of the Mount Pleasant, New York, police chief, Brian Fanelli, who pleaded not guilty this week to federal charges of knowingly receiving and distributing child pornography. Court papers allege that Fanelli told investigators he began looking at child porn as research before it grew into a "personal interest."

In May, agents on computers created a digital dragnet with the same tactics used in the Fanelli case: Agents posed as collectors of child porn who wanted to anonymously trade it through file-sharing programs. Once given access to shared child porn photos and videos, the agents identified the numeric IP addresses of the sources of the material.

Josh Duggar, a former reality TV star and a one-time staff member at the Christian nationalist group Family Research Council (FRC), was found guilty of downloading and possessing child pornography during a trial last month.

Although this and similar operations take a few predators off the web, the internet has given people with such proclivities access to a treasure trove of children, many of whom roam the internet unmonitored. In addition to potential sexual predation, children and teens face a variety of dangers online including cyberbullying, suicidal ideas, threats of violence and pornography. Mississippi law enforcement frequently announces operations of its own to protect kids from online threats. In June, Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced her office had arrested one man and provided crucial expert testimony which helped convict two others.

To collect input and to disseminate useful information to the nation on this question, the committee held two public workshops. On December 13, 2000, in Washington, D.C., the committee convened a workshop to focus on nontechnical strategies that could be effective in a broad range of settings (e.g., home, school, libraries) in which young people might be online. This workshop brought together researchers, educators, policy makers, and other key stakeholders to consider and discuss these approaches and to identify some of the benefits and limitations of various nontechnical strategies. The December workshop is summarized in Nontechnical Strategies to Reduce Children's Exposure to Inappropriate Material on the Internet: Summary of a Workshop. The second workshop was held on March 7, 2001, in Redwood City, California. This second workshop focused on some of the technical, business, and legal factors that affect how one might choose to protect kids from pornography on the Internet. The present report provides, in the form of edited transcripts, the presentations at that workshop.

Coining the term collaborative pornography viewing, we used a mixed method study to test the perception of individual relationship satisfaction, sexual satisfaction, trust, closeness, and communication after watching pornography together. The purpose of this article is to present the qualitative findings of the study. In the qualitative portion, a subset of couples from the larger sample (8 couples; N = 16) participated in interviews about their experience in the study and, specifically, the collaborative viewing of pornography. The findings indicated that collaborative pornography viewing enabled practice in negotiation, relationship communication, normalized pornography viewing in the relationship, created a boundary around the couple, and increased conversations. These results support the recommendations of previous scholars advising couples that viewing pornography together may improve certain aspects of the relationship.

The effects of viewing sexually explicit materials on one's individual psychology is an increasingly important area of investigation. To date, research has yielded inconclusive results related to the potential positive or negative effects of viewing sexually explicit material on the individual (Harkness, Mullan, & Blaszczynski, 2015; Minarcik, Wetterling, & Short, 2016; Staley & Prause, 2012; Vaillancourt-Morel, Daspe, Charbonneau-Lefebvre, Bosisio, & Bergeron, 2019). Likewise, research examining the effects of viewing pornography on ones romantic relationships has produced inconsistent findings.

Several studies have reported that pornography viewing was associated with negative relationship outcomes, particularly when men viewed pornography independently (defined as those who view pornography alone, without ones partner) (Harkness et al., 2015; Perry, 2017a). (1) For example, Bernarte, Estella, Nucon, and Villatema (2016), in a study of 400 married individuals, found that internet pornography consumption was associated with weaker relationship commitment. A longitudinal study of married Americans indicated that initiation of pornography use increased the probability of divorce, although the authors acknowledged that, alternatively, married people who became sexually unsatisfied during the course of the study might have been more likely to seek out pornography and be divorced by the end of the study (Perry & Schleifer, 2018). In another study of young adult women attending college in the Southern United States, reports of male partners frequency of pornography use was negatively associated with relationship quality (Stewart & Szymanski, 2012). In a study of 1,755 heterosexual couples, Willoughby, Carroll, Busby, and Browns (2016) findings suggested that greater discrepancies between partners pornography use was related to less relationship satisfaction and stability. However, the authors noted that "Direct associations between pornography use differences and relationship well-being were generally weak. While pornography use differences appear related to relationship outcomes, such associations were only one small part of what makes relationships generally healthy or unhealthy" (p. 154). Instead, the authors commented on the role of indirect effects affecting desire and communication. For example, the authors suggest that discrepancies may influence whether partners frame pornography viewing by their partner as a breach of trust in the relationship and potentially affect the perception of satisfaction (Willoughby et al., 2016).
